Come As You Are.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
-Matthew 11:28

When it comes to topics like mental health, suicide, eating disorders, substance use, and sexual assault, we as a community are often silent. Instead of seeking help or care, we tend to brush it under the rug in fear of shame and social stigma. Apart from the stigma associated with mental health and sexual assault, Asian Americans sometimes face other roadblocks like awareness, education, and a scarcity of resources.

As a community, we need to stop shying away from the important topics. We must create an environment that allows individuals to feel safe, heard, believed, and supported. Even if you don’t personally struggle with mental illness, everyone has mental health and will know someone affected in some way.  It’s time to start spreading awareness and continuing the conversation. It’s OKAY to talk about things you struggle with. It’s okay to be overwhelmed and to take a step back. It’s okay not to be okay, and it’s okay to need help.

The Come As You Are resource is here to give our youth resources and tools to access support and care. Though this is not a complete list, we hope that these resources help engage, educate, and empower our community.
